# bird on a branch 2 # Doily

Cheery Lynn Designs Big Weaver

Cheery Lynn Designs released new products at CHA called Weavers and Wickers.  I decided to play with my Big Weaver which cuts and embosses 1/2 inch strips.  Using a wonderful striped paper, I embossed then cut the strips, removing the edge that holds them together.  Then using a piece of card stock 5 5/8 inch square I began to attach the strips.  As I added them, I staggered the pattern down one stripe width until I reached the center of the card stock, then I staggered the pattern up one stripe width.  This gave it a fabulous stair step down then up again pattern.  It reminds me of a lot of the pattern in an Escher print.  I liked the background so much that I did not want to cover a lot of it up.  So here is what I came up with......

I die cut the largest Heart to Heart Doily out of pink (ugh!) card stock and again cut it out of vellum. Using the Large Rectangle Piercing plate on the drop out heart from the vellum I added some texture.  Much easier than poking all those holes by hand with a grid.   Next came the flowers, the base for the large flower is from the large Tropical Flower die; I used the smaller Tropical Flower die for the other flower.  I dry embossed each of them for some dimension.  The other flowers are from my stash.  The leaf flourishes are from the Bird on a Branch 2 die.  I used my Little Stackers Circle and Scallop Circle Nesting dies for the sentiment from Hero Arts.  Finished size is 6" square.

  2. Sandy, that is a awesome card and I love the background. Your color choices for everything are so bright and beautiful and it sure speaks of spring. For me that is a must these cold winter days to see something really spring like. The background looks hard to do but I am sure with the aid of the die cut it cuts the time down considerably. Another die to look into acquiring I believe.
