Allie and her Bunny

For my Cheery Lynn Designs post today, I created a card around this adorable digi image from Sassy Cheryl's called Allie and her Bunny.  I hand trimmed around the image and then layered it onto a Scalloped Oval Little Stackers die cut.  I used my Scalloped Square Large Stackers for the card base and the coordinating Silver Square Stackers for the DP panels.  I added two horizontal panels trimmed with Anastasia borders

I created the flowers with my Miniature, Medium and Large Roses adding Olive Branches for some greenery.  I added a tag for personalizing the card using my Tags 1 die set.  Finished size is 5 5/8" square.

Boy oh Boy!

Hello!  Those of you that know me know how much I love to add texture to my projects, and what better way than by embossing plates!
The little critters on the Turtles and Frogs Embossing Plate are sooo cute!! After embossing, I brushed on a little chalk to emphasize the textured pattern. The Celtic Chain Border is the perfect boyish accent!

Corner Medallion

I just love the color combination of white, yellow and black; it is so clean and fresh.  I was inspired to make my card today by one of the winning entries from last week's Tickled Pink challenge.  Holly created a very elegant card by putting four corner dies together in the center of her card.  That made me get out all my corner dies and look at the possibilities.  Using one of the dies from the Lace Corner Deco I set, I created this lovely medallion as a backdrop for my flower.  I used my Silver Circle Little Stackers to cut the black circle for mounting the corner pieces.  For some interest, I added texture to the top yellow panel and the next black panel using my Large Circle Piercing Plate.

For my flower, I used 2 large, 2 medium and 1 small flower from my Dairy Strip.  Normally, I curve my daisy petals under, but this time, I simply dragged my fingernail across the top of the petal - from the center to the tip - and it created a lovely upward bend.  Finished size is 5" square.

Shaped Easel Card

Continuing with this week's Winter White challenge, I have created a shaped easel card.  I quite often get emails from our viewers asking how to make a shaped card and keep the die shape.

The trick is to move your folded card stock down in the die, creating a hinge on one side.  In this pic, the folded edge of my 6" square is at the top and you can see a portion of my Scalloped Circle Stackers die above it.

Because I am very anal, I don't like the hinge to show; so I always cut another panel (the one on the right) to add to the card base (on the left).  That gives you the scallops all the way around the card front.

So once I got my card base created, I started on my card.  The first thing I did was emboss the extra front panel with my Petite Hearts embossing plate.  Then I added a Sophia's Heart die cut.  This is such a beautiful die.

For the inside card base, I die cut a coordinating panel with my Silver Circle Stackers and again embossed with my Petite Hearts.  I added another Sophia's Heart but this time I trimmed out the center of the die.  I created a straight scalloped border piece using my Scalloped Square Stackers to which I added a Heart Chain border.  I trimmed the center heart out of my Sophia's Heart die cut, added a backing and popped it up on the card base.  The last step was the sentiment panel cut with my Scalloped Oval Little Stackers and matching Silver Oval Little Stackers.   This will fit in a 6" square envelope.

Stained Glass Lacey Angel

For my card today, I want to share a fun way to create stained glass using the Cheery Lynn Designs Lacey Angel die. My friend Stacey from Sweet Stamps showed me how to do this.

Step 1: Die cut the Lacey Angel die twice.  I die cut it from Cryogen metallic white paper and then again from a patterned paper.

Step 2:  Insert the Angel die cut back into the DP, turn it over and add a two sided sticky tape to the back side of the DP.  If your tape is not wide enough, just butt the strips up against each other.  I used 2.5 inch Scor-Tape.

Here you can see the tape shining through the Angel.

Step 3:  Add clear glitter to the Angel, tapping it down where the tape shows through then knocking off the excess.  I used Sparkly Sweet Ultrafine Transparent Glitter.

Step 4:  Remove the release paper from the tape and add a piece of vellum to the back side of the Angel, covering up all the sticky tape.

Step 5:  Add color to your Angel.  I used a combination of Pitt Pens and Copic markers.  I left the wings clear as well as the bottom edge of her gown.  Avoid getting your vellum too wet as it will buckle.

Step 6:  Add a light colored card stock behind the Angel to help the colors show through.  I used white for my card.

To complete my card, I added a border from the Expandable Tiny Borders die to the top and bottom of my card front.  And then die cut my Merry Christmas die, trimming off the snowflakes.  Since I had to cut two Angels to get my background DP, I decided to use the extra angel to finish the inside of my card.

I die cut a Scalloped Oval Small Stackers and the matching Silver Oval Small Stackers for my computer generated sentiment.  Finished size is 4.25 x 5.5 inches. This is a fun technique and does not take very long to complete.  It would work wonderfully with any of the lacey die cuts that Cheery Lynn makes.

May the Magic of Christmas fill your Heart

Morning all, Tamara here. Not long to go before the big day.  I have already put up my Christmas decorations and hung up my stocking.  I'm now getting into the Christmas spirit.  My creation today was going to be a Christmas tag but changed my mind at last minute and made it into a card instead.
Cheery Lynn Dies I have used are
The size of my card is 14.5cm x 14.5cm I have used distressing inks around all of the edges to add to that aged look. I really love the Frills and Hearts Border die and find myself reaching for it more and more as it goes with so many designs and looks so good with a few staples to hold it in place.

I also couldn't be without all my nesting dies and use these on nearly all my projects..

Over on our Challenge blog we have a great challenge for you this week with the theme "Non Traditional Christmas Colours" You must use at least one Cheery Lynn Die to enter for a chance to winner a $20 coupon to spend in the Cheery Lynn Store
Have fun crafting today

Vintage card + tutorial - Kianel

Hello dear Cheery lynn designs lovers,
Kianel here today with a vintage card and a tutorial.
Today i am showing you how to create a very elegant frame for any shape of the XL or little stackers that has inverted scallop option.
The card is about 16x16cm. The base of the card is made using the Mini pearl french flair mega doily, biggest size. The paper i used is white and i then inked it and stamped it.
Using the XL french flair stackers, i cut size 4 in printed paper and placed it on white cardstock to cut a bit larger, for it to fit my Kaleidoscope shape.
I added an elegant frame to decorate my image, using Little scalloped oval stackers and Little inverted scallop oval stackers (see the tutorial right under this project).
I used the same idea for the expandable tiny borders that i decorated with thread too, having exactly the same design! Mini fanciful flourish, wreath strip, 3 butterflies from the mini dimensional butterflies set.
I added a sentiment "Love", tiniest one in the top corner.
To build my flower, i used the Cherry blossoms that i inked and stamped with a text. I shaped it using embossing tool and placed a brad in the center.
I added olive branches on the sides, a mini dimensional butterflies and a sentiment frame #1 for my text.
Dies from Cheery Lynn Designs, inks from Ranger and Colorbox, printed paper from MME, stamps from Cartoscrap / Stampabilities / Hampton Arts, embellishments from a french online store.

Let's now focus on this frame and i am going to show you how to make one easily:

All it takes to do it is  the Little scalloped oval stackers largest size and a smaller Little inverted scallop oval stackers. You can do that with the ovals, but also with the circle and the squares.

 First, cut a scalloped oval.
Take the die that you will use of the inverted scallop die and mark the "highs" with a pen on the back of the die (don't hesitate to do that on several areas all around the die to make sure you align correctly before cutting (here is just to show you how that looks): that is to be able to put them in line with the "lows" of the scalloped die. Not sure i am making myself clear here but i guess you'll see what i mean on the next step, lol. Put the die in the middle and cut.
So here is what you get, pretty cool isn't it? Don't worry if it's not "perfect", you can hide the "wrong" parts with decorations later on. It takes several attempts to get the perfect one.
To make my frame elegant, i just used some cotton thread and laced it around the cut frame. First time i wind it around like that. (Just attach your thread with a tiny piece of double sided tape for the beginning and then just go through the frame).
And here is what you get after you went through the whole frame another time but in the other direction.
Now you just have to grab your stackers and give it a go as this is really cool!

Quilling with Cheery Lynn Designs

Have you seen the new Expandable Quilling Strip Die from Cheery Lynn Designs?  I dug out my quilling tools and started cutting strips.  I only wanted to use the largest size of strips from the die, so I cut my paper 1/2 x 11 inches.  Positioned it over the larger strips and die cut it.

I trimmed the outer bits off and then repositioned the paper to finish cutting the strips.  It is really easy to line the original strips back up in the die and then run it through your machine.  Not knowing exactly what I was making I cut a large amount of red and green strips and quilled up the following.....

For my larger flower, I used size 2 on the Quilling Circle template; 3 for the smaller.  I was originally going to add quilled leaves but when I started assembling my card, I decided I wanted leaf die cuts.

Using my Scalloped Square Stackers and the coordinating Silver Square Stackers I created my card base and the DP background.  Next I added a Nautical Wheeler Doily and started assembling my poinsettias.  I used my Holly Leaves die around the petals and then added two Holly Corner embellishments.  I die cut the center medallion from the Nautical Wheeler Doily and added it below my sentiment which I die cut with my Scalloped Circle Stackers and matching Silver Circle Stackers.  Finished size is 6" square.

Frame It!!

Good morning all you Cheery Lynn Fans and welcome to Sunday.  Tamara here with your weekend Inspiration. I have used my nesting stackers to create a framed window card.
Dies you will need to make
Mini Dimensional Butterfiles W/Angelwings
Leaf
SM Silver Stackers Classic Circle
SM Scalloped Circle Stackers
Embellishment #2

The size of my card is 14.5 CM (6"}Square. To create the scalloped frame you will need one of the scalloped circles in onesize and then a classic circle in one side smaller.  Layer the two dies inside each other (with the die side facing up) this will then create your frame.
